Exchange Food for Fines at MidPointe

How can paying a library fine help someone in need during the holiday season?

At MidPointe Library we’ve found the answer... and it’s become a tradition.

Beginning Friday, November 29, through Friday, December 13, MidPointe will once again conduct the popular “Food For Fines” program at each of its locations. “Foor For Fines” gives patrons the option to “pay” their library fines – not with money – but with non-perishable food items that will be forwarded to local food banks before the holidays. For any acceptable donated item, $1.00 in fines will be waived off a patron’s library card.

Below are guidelines for participating in the “Food For Fines”program at any MidPointe location Friday, November 29, through Friday, December 13:

1.Only non-perishable food items can be used to “pay” fines.

2. Each acceptable donated item will result in $1.00 in fines waived off a patron’s record.

3. A patron can have up to $10 waived off his/her record.

4. Fees for lost/damaged materials will not be waived. Individuals who have been reported to Unique (for whatever reason) will not have fines waived.

5. Acceptable donations include canned goods, boxed mixes, toiletries and paper goods.

6. All items must be in good, non-dented/non- damaged condition.

7. Items past their expiration date will be accepted.

8. Donated items should not be labeled “Not For Individual Sale.”

9. A patron’s fines may be paid by a family member who donates a food item that meets the above criteria.

10. Donated items may be dropped off at any MidPointe location: Middletown, West Chester, Trenton, Monroe, Liberty Township (2nd floor, Liberty Center) and onboard our “Library On Wheels” bookmobile.
