Shakespurr's January Early Literacy Tip

Foster your child’s love of reading and learning in fun, simple ways!

Kim Jones, library specialist at MidPointe Library Trenton, offers this early literacy tip:

“TALKING: expand on the things your child says. (Example: If your child points out a flower, respond with ‘Yes, that is a flower. This flower is called a rose. Roses can be red, yellow, white or pink. What color is this flower?’) The more words you use, the more words your child will know.”

Another fun way to promote reading and learning? Bring your child to Storytimes at MidPointe Library Trenton (and other MidPointe locations). Trenton’s weekly storytime schedule (January-April):

Baby Storytime: 10 a.m. Wednesdays.

Toddler Storytime: 11 a.m. Wednesdays.

Preschool Storytime: 10:30 a.m. Thursdays.
