The countdown has begun! Young inventors in the Monroe Local School District who participate in the Invention Convention program soon will learn who will represent their school at the Ohio Invention Convention Competition and Entrepreneurship Expo July 29 at the Ohio State Fair. State winners may advance to the 2019 nationals.
An announcement is expected soon.
Offered by the Ohio educational non-profit Invention League, the Invention Convention gives students a chance to literally create products they believe can solve everyday problems. The program puts students in touch with local entrepreneurs, entrepreneurial students and community leaders who inspire and advise the young inventors in a variety of ways.
This year’s student inventions at Monroe Elementary range from ways to conserve electricity to keeping sewers free of debris. Pictured above, sixth grader Zach Bachman demonstrates his invention, a no-mess way to prepare a s’more. Observing are Cincinnati State entrepreneurial student advisors Benson Oreweh and Leslie Maxwell (left), Monroe teacher Susan Cooper (upper right), fellow inventors (L-R) Maggie Kirkpatrick, Kendall Bowen, Haley Gajus, Ian Race and Micah Tarin and Anderson Bailey (foreground).
