Happy Birthday Richard Scarry!

One hundred years ago today the founder of “Busytown” was born. 

Although Author Richard Scarry is gone, his cozy little village still exists with its friendly animal characters going about their daily lives filled with purpose and kindness.  

Children still love to visit there.  

According to Chase’s 2019 Calendar of Events, “More than 100 million copies of [Scarry’s] books have sold worldwide.” 

That’s a lot of visitors to a small town!  

MidPointe Library knows the way to Busytown -- through its collection of Scarry’s charming picture books. They’re as popular today as they were the year they were written and therefore worthy of the title “classics for kids.”
